Have you ever done a beer pairing tasting? Most of you have probably done a wine pairing tasting, as that's more common.
Beer is often thought of as a great refreshing drink to be consumed alone or with a simple snack. People aren't usually aware of the different beer styles and how they pair with various foods. This is because each beer style has its own unique aromas and flavors.
At Cervezas Althaia, we are committed to ensuring you thoroughly enjoy the wonderful world of craft beer. And to enjoy it, let's start by getting to know it. We propose a pairing tasting with the different craft beer styles we produce and their combination with 6 types of food:
Pairing for appetizers, salads, and fish
Our Mediterranean Lager, or “Althaia's blonde” as we call it, is a "wardrobe staple" craft beer. It pairs perfectly with a wide variety of fresh and light dishes such as starters, fish, and white meats. We suggest you pair it with sushi, a Japanese-Mediterranean organoleptic experience that's hard to forget.
Pairing for cheeses and cured meats
Among our "Illustrious" craft beers, Cornamusa, an American Amber Ale style, is a fresh yet full-bodied beer. It has the freshness provided by the hops and the sweetness of the caramel malts. It pairs with intense flavors like cheeses, especially aged ones, and any type of cured meats. Try Cornamusa with a varied cheese and cured meat board, and their aromas and flavors will be enhanced.
Pairing for red meats
The craft beer that pairs perfectly with meats is the Mediterranean IPA. This fruity and slightly bitter beer pairs perfectly with main courses, red meats, intense fish like salmon, and spicy sauces.
How about pairing it with an Argentine-style roast, including its chimichurri, or sharing it at a barbecue with friends? Try it and tell us what you think...
Pairing for stews and hearty dishes
If you're one of those who enjoy classic, hearty dishes, Mistral, our Double IPA style craft beer, is for you. It's a bitter and very intense beer, with a powerful citrus and tropical fruit flavor balanced with the malts. Perfect for pairing with stews or spiced foods. A good plate of legumes or a traditional stew combines perfectly with Mistral's intense flavor.
Pairing for light summer dishes
In summer, try our Alisios Gose style to accompany your light meals. It's a smooth and refreshing craft beer, slightly tart and a bit salty. It's also ideal as an isotonic drink due to its low alcohol content. Perfect for drinking between meals, for light snacks; it will quench your thirst with great flavor.
Pairing for autumnal products
Autumn is the season of earthy colors: ocher, reddish, orange... Like the color of our Rabosa beer, a Pumpkin Ale style. With a coppery orange color, full body, and persistent creamy head, it's the perfect craft beer to pair with autumn products. Its sweet maltiness on the palate is reminiscent of pumpkin pie or gingerbread cookies. Perfect for combining with autumnal products like mushrooms, seasonal vegetables, or white meats.
Pairing for desserts
And to finish off... our delicious Batiscafo craft beer. An Imperial Stout style, it's a full-bodied, sweet, and somewhat liqueur-like craftbeer. With a delicious dark chocolate and caramel flavor that's very pleasant on the palate. This delight, perfect for after-dinner, pairs wonderfully with desserts, chocolates, sugared almonds, and pralines.
Pairing for "non-alcoholic" options
Of course, we couldn't forget those of you who don't drink alcohol. Our Mediterranean "non-alcoholic" IPA is specially created with you in mind. So you can enjoy all the flavor of an IPA with all the Mediterranean spirit, but without alcohol, at any time.
