This is the iconic and beloved "blonde from Althaia," the true heartbeat of our factory in Altea and, without a doubt, the recipe we produce with the most pride, and the one most consumed across our beautiful Costa Blanca in Alicante. But behind each of its bottles and cans lies a historic milestone for our brand and for the industry: this is the original Mediterranean Lager. When we embarked on the great journey of moving to our new factory, we meticulously designed a bottom-fermented recipe capable of purely capturing the light, the breeze, and the essence of our land, dressing it in its now iconic blue label. To define and present it to the world, we coined a term at the time that did not exist in any beer style guide: Mediterranean Lager. Today, that concept, born of our own inventiveness in Altea to name our lager, has become a true movement within the industry. Institutions and fellow professionals now use the term as an indigenous style in itself, establishing its foundations: a very unique Spanish way of understanding and drinking beer through bottom fermentation, a moderate alcohol content (approx. 5%), and an extremely crisp, refreshing, aromatic, and clean profile. Just as legendary brands became the living representation of a style—like Pilsner Urquell for Pilsners—at Althaia, we proudly claim our place as the undisputed origin of the Mediterranean Lager.
