Today we want to suggest a perfect plan to spend these Easter days. You can make this foolproof recipe and enjoy it with the whole family. And best of all, the adults can pair it with beer!
We recommend pairing this recipe with Barlovento, Batiscafo, Sidama or even Rabosa. Any of them will enhance the flavors of this sweet bread and give you the perfect excuse to #MERENDARCONCERVEZA (SNACKWITHBEER).
PANQUEMAO OR MONA RECIPE
- 85 gr of sugar
- ½ lemon zest
- 2 eggs
- 50 gr of oil
- 50 gr of water
- 30 gr of baker's yeast
- 300 gr of strong flour (or a little more until the dough separates)
Preparation:
Dissolve the yeast in warm water and form a volcano with the flour, then gradually incorporate all the ingredients. Knead well and let it rest in a container covered with a cloth until it doubles in volume.
Knead again and shape as desired.
You can make figures or rounds, and when they double in volume again, decorate them to your liking: brush with beaten egg and add sugar on top, colorful sprinkles, or a hard-boiled egg in the center.
Bake them in the oven at 170ºC until golden brown.
Version with food processor:
Add sugar at speed 5-10, for 20s
Add lemon zest at speed 5-10, for 20s
Add eggs and liquids for 3 minutes at 37ºC, speed 4
Add flour at speed 6 for a few seconds, then dough kneading speed for 7 minutes (if the dough doesn't separate, add a little more flour).
Let it rest in the bowl until it doubles in volume and then continue as in the traditional recipe.
And now our delicious mona is ready to pair with your favorite Althaia beer!
P.S.: This recipe was given to us by the mother of our friend María from @CervesesLluna, and we are very grateful to her.
