Autumn arrives on Thursday, trees begin to shed their leaves, temperatures drop, days get shorter, and pumpkin craft beers appear. Yes, the time has come when this fruit becomes the main ingredient in craft beers.
And, of course, with the new season, we are launching our latest creation: RABOSA, a Pumpkin Ale or Autumn Seasonal Beer. Autumn Seasonal Beers are beers that evoke cool weather and the autumn harvest season, with ingredients such as pumpkins and associated spices.
RABOSA, Althaia Artesana's Pumpkin Ale
Rabosa is a copper-orange beer, spicy, with a full body that suggests a good accompaniment to the cool autumn winds, evoking the traditional roasted pumpkins found in the ovens and markets of our region. Its aroma is reminiscent of pumpkin pie, complex, harmonious, and spicy. Its foam is well-formed with a sweet maltiness on the palate that recalls pumpkin pie or gingerbread cookies.
As an image, we have chosen the "rabosa" (fox in Valencian), inspired by the kitsune (fox = rabosa) of Japanese mythology, a character from Japanese folklore according to which the fox is an intelligent being who possesses magical abilities that increase with age and the acquisition of knowledge, as does the number of tails. The most powerful is the nine-tailed kitsune.
It is so important to the Japanese that they use the word to name the forest spirit in the form of a fox, whose basic function is to protect forests and villages. It is also related to Inari, the Shinto god of fertility, agriculture, rice, and foxes.
Kitsune is a "spirit that protects villages and crops; as this animal becomes cunning, things grow. The rabosa sometimes transforms into a powerful woman but maintains the shadow of an animal."
RABOSA is a powerful beer, capable of adding warmth to autumn days, family gatherings, outings with friends, an ideal beer to share and to warm up the cool autumn nights that are approaching.
