Last Friday, May 26, the exciting awards ceremony for the prestigious Barcelona Beer Challenge International Awards 2023 took place, as part of the wonderful Barcelona Beer Festival. We are very excited to share with you that Cervezas Althaia has once again received outstanding recognition by winning three medals in this prestigious international competition.

With these new distinctions, Cervezas Althaia has accumulated a total of 44 medals and recognitions both nationally and internationally, solidifying its position as one of the most awarded breweries in the national scene. The competition, which is part of the European Beer Consumers Union (EBCU) network of competitions, featured the participation of 50 expert judges from 27 different countries, who had the difficult task of deciding the awards.

The eighth edition of the Barcelona Beer Challenge International Awards saw broad participation, with products representing 17 countries. In total, no less than 1,126 beers from 181 participating breweries were entered.

Cornamusa, a very bronzed American Amber Ale.

One of the medals was awarded to the renowned beer Cornamusa, which won a bronze in the American Amber Ale category. With this medal, Cornamusa now has four distinctions to its name, with two bronzes and two silvers in total.

Bèrnia, the Belgian-inspired beer, won a gold medal at the BBF.

In addition, our outstanding brewery earned a gold with its new creation, Bèrnia, a Belgian-inspired beer with notes of Brett, red fruits, and barrel aging. We are particularly proud of this medal, as the category requires great technical skill and brewing knowledge, in addition to this being the first time we have brewed this beer.

And that's not all. Cervezas Althaia was also awarded another gold for its MEDITERRANEAN IPA Alcohol-Free in the Alcohol-Free Beers category. This category is gaining increasing relevance in the market and has a growing number of followers. It is particularly significant that we won gold, beating major industrial competitors, who took home a silver medal. We demonstrate once again that, despite being a brewery with lower volume and economic capacity compared to some industrial companies, we are capable of producing high-quality beers.
