Althaia Repeats Podium Finish at the 6th Barcelona Beer Challenge

Althaia repite podio en la VI edición del Barcelona Beer Challenge

On May 29, the 6th Barcelona Beer Challenge awards ceremony took place at Sala Sarau 08911 in Barcelona. It was a much-anticipated and emotional event that signals a gradual and hopeful return to normality, as this year's competition brought back in-person attendance after the 2020 edition was held online due to circumstances.

The awards were presented after a tasting conducted by 40 specialized judges, who gathered in early March at the La Textil brewpub in Barcelona to taste 1,167 beers from 232 national and international breweries. The categories to be awarded with three medals each (Gold, Silver, and Bronze) are structured according to the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) style guidelines. This year, some new categories were also introduced, such as Non-Alcoholic Beer and Hard Seltzer.

Cervezas Althaia repeated exactly the same podium as last year, with Silver Medals for Cornamusa in the American Amber Ale category; Mistral in Double IPA; and Rabosa in Autumn Seasonal Beer. We are very proud to have received these distinctions, as having repeated the podium for another year with these beers rewards not only our commitment to quality but also its consistency year after year, as recently highlighted in an article by El Jardín del Lúpulo. With this, we have now reached the BCC podium 6 times, which means since this competition began, making us the most awarded brewery in this competition.

From Cervezas Althaia, we want to thank the entire Barcelona Beer Challenge team for the excellent organization of the gala and congratulate all the other award winners and participants for collectively growing the craft beer sector both within and beyond our borders.
