These awards join our record with a total of 10 international and 6 national medals since Althaia's creation just 4 years ago. The three beers awarded silver medals were: Heliodora, in the Berliner Weisse category; IPA, in the American IPA category; and Mascarat, in the Black IPA category.
The National Beer Championship (CNC) is part of La Fira de Cerveza Artesana del Poble Nou, known as one of the most important craft beer festivals in the country, and aims to award the best commercially produced beers in Spain.
The CNC jury is composed of recognized members of the national and international brewing community, who conduct blind tastings to determine the winners in each group/category, where each beer is judged based on quality and its fidelity to the style it represents.
La Fira del Poblenou is an event that, during the weekend of July 6-8, contributed to promoting craft beer culture in this Barcelona neighborhood. 45 national and foreign breweries participated, over 200 different beers, food trucks, tastings, and presentations... this is what the more than 30,000 visitors who attended Barcelona's grand craft beer festival were able to experience and enjoy.
This year marked its 7th edition, and one of the main characteristics of this fair is that the beer producers (not distributors) attend, allowing attendees to be in direct contact with the brewers at a fair for industry enthusiasts. That is why we are more than delighted to be part of this great beer festival, meet other professionals, and introduce ourselves to beer lovers.
For Althaia, it was a most exciting weekend, sharing experiences with other brewers and fully enjoying our passion: craft beer.
Once again, we want to thank all of you who have supported us and trusted in the quality of our beers; without you, none of this would be possible.
Next year, more and better!
